Too funny. I've heard so much stuff this week regarding my departure from WXYT that I thought I should speak for myself. The Free Press was so far off base on the story, it is sad.
First, I was not fired. I was asked two years ago if I wanted to do the Midday show on WKRK, I declined. They re-approached me regarding it last month and I decided that it was time to get out of sports and attempt to cross over into mainstream talk. It was the perfect time for the move.
Yes, the Illitch's hate my guts. They have disliked me since we did the Pizza man song on WDFN 5 years ago. They dislike the fact that I have called for Mike Illitch to sell the team. Simply thin skinned and punitive. I know for a fact that they complained loudly when I was hired last year and made life miserable for our sales people. That was one of the reasons I offered to move to WKRK. I am happy to be rid of the headache.
As for any big change at WXYT I wouldn't expect any philosophical switch in programming. Kevin Graham is a good Program Director who will pick up the ball and run with it.
