I feel your pain all the way from Philly. I know it must be tough to lose the World Series but hey, who expected this type of season from the Tigers.
The best news is that this was a breakthrough season for the Tigers, NOT a Championship season. The Tigers are stacked and there is even more help on the way from the minor leagues. I suspect Mike Illitch will add more offense to the club in the off-season and the Tigers should be right back in the mix next season. Illitch, for all his faults has proven he will get players if people buy tickets and you did in 2006.
It sucks now but this could be just the start of great things for a very young team. See ya in Philly next summer.
A source close to the Philadelphia Eagles Assistant Coach Pat Shurmer told me that Shurmer has already been contacted about the Head Coaching job at MSU. The guy is credible and it appears to be true; if true, great hire for MSU. I think they would be getting a guy who will stay forever, love the gig and establish something good at State.
I get the impression the Tigers woke up and realized they were in the World Series. Maybe the heat is getting to them, 5 errors in 3 games. Ugh. Bummer. Then again, doesn't matter if nobody hits the ball for the home team. Need more depth and a big bat at first next year.
It is the eve of game one of the 2006 World Series and I am so jacked to watch baseball. I think it is funny. Three years ago the Tigers were dead to me, I, like most was fed up with the state of my hometown team. The Tigers resurgence has been nothing short of miraculous and and I am thrilled for the people of Detroit. I know you guys are battling tough times and I hope the World Series gives you pause from the harsh realities currently hampering the city.
Can't wait, I will be watching a 3:30 Michigan vs. Iowa game right into the World Series. Enjoy, I know I will. In the immortal words of Arthur P, "Rock out with you c**k out!"
