Why I don't care about Millen's firing.

I've gotten a few e-mails from people wondering what my take is on the Matt Millen firing and why I haven't blogged about it.  The reason is simple, his hiring and firing don't and never did matter!

Matt Millen wasn't the problem, the problem is still alive and kicking and his name is William Clay Ford Sr.

I know most of you would like to think now that Millen is gone the Lions will be on their way to NFL glory, right.  Uh, no, not even close.

Ford will just hire another Jesus freak "Yes man" to run the club and nothing will change.  This is the man who gave us Tommy Huspeth, Rick Forzano, Daryl Rogers, Wayne Fontes, Marty and Millen.  William Clay Ford has no clue and at the ripe old age of 84 don't expect him to get one anytime soon.

I know many in the Lion front office are protective of Willie Sr., but the guy is a bafoon.  In 40 years as an owner he has shown zero apptitude for running a football team and seemingly ALWAYS makes the wrong decisions, from hiring football coaches to drafting players, etc.  The list goes on and on.

Sadly, I think the loserdom at Ford Field is institutional, many who work there likely don't even notice that they are part of the problem.  They go about thier day not ever taking a look at the program from the outside.

The Lions need to do what Millen attempted to do, clean the whole place out, but they need to do it with an experinced football man who can see the Lions for what they are, a collection of "Jesus freaks," mis-fits and losers who are so inbread that they aren't even capable of self evaluation.

So rejoice that Millen is out, but understand it had nothing to do with you, Ford basically told you to "suck it" for the last 4 years.  He did this because his son made a remark to the media.  Sr. would have let this Millen garbage go on forever, what does he care?

The next guy will just be another institutional loser who fits the Ford mold, don't expect anything to change.

Congrats to Lion fans for not buying the tickets to the next game at Ford Field, they don't deserve your cash.
