I think somebody is trying to scam me, but I don't know how. Read the following text exchange and let me know what you think....Remember, this was unsolicited and I don't think I know any of the people involved.
What I can't figure out is, how do they know my name and where did they get my phone number? This was the exchange!
Scammer: Hey Greg, this is Jennifer...it's Kelly's friend...she told me you are a dog lover... We have a 1 year old black lab that needs a home. I'm leaving in 2 days and I need someone to take her in...u r my last chance...if you can't take her I will have to take her to the kill shelter....Please let me know asap!
Scammer: Would you be interested in the dog? Her name is Cloey and she's a beautiful dog who is great with kids...I'd love to keep her but I can't. I would feel horrible of someone wouldn't take her.
Me: Who's friend are you? Kelly?
Scammer: Kelly Jackson
Me: I don't know a Kelly Jackson. Do you have the right Gregg
Scammer: She says she does....Greg Henson
Me: Call me
Scammer: I can't. I'm in middle of moving all my stuff...now my 2 boys have the flu. My youngest is in with the doctor.
Me: Sounds like a scam unless you call me.
Scammer: Umm, ok...I'm asking you if you want my dog! I'm not asking you for fucking money! Kelly said you would be a dick about it!! It's my dog asshole!! Just forget about it.
Me: LOL. I'd love the dog. But u are a scammer. Explain who Kelly is and where she lives? Send me a picture of the dog.
So that is where it ended. I'm sure it's a scam but I can't figure out how they knew me and where they got my number. Now I am dying to know exactly how this scam works.
Have any of you had any experience with this type of scam? I'm going to call this number non-stop until I get an answer.
