Cincinnati Pitcher Ardolis Chapman threw the fastest pitch ever on Friday night when his fastball was clocked at 105 miles per hour.
The Pitch was no fluke as each of Chapman's 25 pitches hit the radar gun at 100+ miles per hour during his relief stint against the San Diego Padres!
Since radar guns were used in baseball in the 1980, the previous fastest pitch was tossed by Detroit Tiger reliever Joel Zumaya who was clocked at 104.8 miles per hour during a playoff game in October 2006.
Wow! I find it funny that MSU fans are so out of sorts over the Mike Hart comments. Aren't these the same people who gloated and mocked Michigan after they lost to App. State?
Michigan State fans seem to want to dish it out but the minute Hart and company shoot back they get all bent out of shape. What gives? Time to take your medicine Sparty. You injected yourself into the Michigan vs. App State stuff, why not allow a retort.
The word is that following the Michigan loss to App. State one of the broadcasters on the MSU radio network joked about "having a moment of silence for Michigan." Well, Mike Hart and Company decided it was time to have "a moment" for the MSU team in response to the radio guys jab. I saw the moment of silence and wasn't sure if it was a prayer or not, but hey, MSU is getting bit in the ass for acting like tools after Michigan lost to App. State.
Dantonio is only making Hart's comments an issue to grab any advantage possible, he knows the MSU rivalry is secondary for Michigan and is simply trying to reignite a one-sided series. When your program is at near rock bottom, anything to ignite it will do.
Apparently Sunni Kate Galloway has serious daddy issues. You see, Sunny Galloway is the head baseball coach at Oklahoma. Sunni Kate Galloway is his daughter who attends Oklahoma State. So how does a daughter get back at dad? Simple, you go to the cross state rival and pose naked for Playboy's girls of the Big 12 issue. Sunni Kate was in the 2006 version of the magazine baring her assets, it is just coming out that she is Sunny's daughter. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall at the Galloway house when this all came out?
O.J. Simpson is co-hosting an Internet radio show this week in Dallas, Texas and HE'S taking calls. Check out some of the calls he got on Tuesday from some radio shows, the first call is from "The Kidd Chris Show" on WYSP in Philly. These calls are hilarious.
The best part is he is doing the show all week and taking unscreened phone calls. This is the website for the show. I encourage ALL of you to call and make fun of OJ just for our own pleasure.
I have resisted the urge to post any new information on the new gig in Austin because I don't think any of you really give two craps, but I got this IM this morning....
twallssr: on how things are going with you / job / family! I check your blog everyday!!! I just get a little nervous when I don't see anything new for a couple days! We love ya G!
So, for those of you who care.
I am in Austin alone until August 1, Nikki and the boys are coming down on August 2, Noah starts pre-school in a couple of weeks and we want to get unpacked and settled before Labor Day.
The job is going great, Clear Channel is really on the ball here in Austin. Obviously I am swamped as I get organized, meet the staff and just get settled in on the job. I am really excited about being back with Clear Channel. I know a lot of the people in the company and feel like I have returned to a company that always was supportive of the sports format, especially while we were building WDFN. Guess the "burning bridges" accusations were a bunch of garbage, huh?
I will have a show on KVET-AM, not sure which day-part just yet. I will let you know as soon as we decide. Should hit the air by football season.
We have a house in Round Rock, Texas which is two doors down from where we lived before the Philadelphia experiment, couldn't be happier with our luck. Noah and Cooper have a lot of little chums in the Round Rock neighborhood and now they will be reunited for what we hope is the long haul.
We are currently looking at locations to open the Jungle Java, our ETA is January or February to open the store. The process is exciting but there is a lot of work for Nicole and I to do before we can open the new location.
Thanks for asking, I will keep you updated on our progress.
This Friday at Noon eastern time Stoney and Wojo are going national as the guest hosts on Jim Rome's nationally syndicated show. This is great exposure for S & W and well deserved by two of the "good guys" in the business. I think they will do well and I am excited to have them on KVET-AM here in Austin, you can bet I will be listening to all three hours in my office on Friday.
It will be interesting to see how Stoney and Wojo handle the national audience, it may be tough because they aren't a generic show, they are tailored exclusively to Detroit. Often unique talents like Wojo don't translate well nationally because the audience doesn't know him and all his Wojoisms. Think about it, who is going to "get" Wojo's "Happy New Year," or "Fat butt trivia?" Going national, even for a day is a whole different can of worms, Stoney and Wojo can handle it, but will the rest of America embrace the show?
If this was a whole week, I think America would LOVE these guys, they would get to know the show and really enjoy it. I think they will get great reviews but a lot of people outside Detroit will be wonder what hit 'em.
Check out this video call "The Great Global Warming Swindle..." It basically gives the opposite view of the hysteria created by the global warming crowd. If you believe in global warming, this video will make you quit angry. This is an 8 part series, 10 minutes each. I'll post one segment a day. This is the site of the group responsible for the documentary.
