Wow! If you saw tonight's Holiday Bowl you saw the now infamous "Chris Jesse incident." Chris Jesse is Texas Head Coach Mack Brown's step-son and appeared to touch a live football during the game. I don't think he actually touched it, but the refs said he did and awarded the Sun Devils the ball, even though they had been stopped and turned the ball over on downs. ASU got the ball and scored to make it 21-7. Jesse was well on his way to being a goat but take a look at the video, he never touched the football.
This could possibly be the most over-hyped story in college football this year. I think Brent and Herby only talked it up because they knew they had a dog game and were trying to get the audience to stay involved in the game. The guy clearly didn't touch the football and the refs made a mistake.
Too bad that announcers think they have to "save a game" by over doing it on the potential controversy.
I think the fact that Texas got a sideline warning early in the game played heavily into this call.
