I just found this website called paper.li. It searches my twitter account and creates a daily newspaper for me based on all the incoming links from the people I follow. It is a very cool app if you are looking for a place to consolidate your twitter information for easy reading later. This is my paper for today!
I get a lot of questions from listeners about how to best use twitter as a sports fan. Frankly I don't see many other uses for it other than for the maniac sports fans trying to keep up with the latest in news and happenings in sports.
I use twitter as a news service, I've used it to stay on top of big stories like the Cliff Lee trade to the Rangers and I've used it for a live account of what was happening in the court room when Nolan Ryan bought the Texas Rangers. All the drama was delivered to my blackberry as it happened by professional journalists in the courtroom in Fort Worth.
So, how can you use twitter to actually make it a valuable tool for you?
Open a Twitter account. Twitter is a microblogging website that allows you to send or receive "tweets" or small burst of information. Twitter doesn't cut it as a web site because you simply cannot be chained to your keyboard all day long. Where it really is magic is when you connect it to your phone.
After you've opened your twitter account, start following teams, media members and players that you have an interest in reading. For example, I follow @aandro of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Evan_P_grant of the Morning News for Ranger coverage.
I suggest downloading Uber Twitter to your smart phone. This allows you the mobility to really make Twitter a valuable resource. Uber Twitter will sych with your twitter account and start forwarding your incoming tweets to your phone so you can read and interact with anybody on Twitter.
And....don't forget to "follow" me. twitter.com/gregghenson
