Longtime Detroit Piston Vice President of P.R. Matt Dobek is dead. His death is being ruled a suicide by hanging according to reports.
Dobek was recently fired after 30 years with the Detroit Pistons and sources say be was unable to find a new position after having spent his whole career with one organization.
Dobek had been with the team since the early days and was still close friends with many of the "Bad Boy" Pistons, including the recently deceased Chuck Daly.
Among those players was Isiah Thomas, with whom Dobek co-authored "Bad Boys: An Inside Look at the Detroit Pistons’ 1988-89 Championship Season" in 1989.
These are odd times at the Palace since Bill Davidson's passing and Tom Wilson's departments. It appears the competitive nature of the Palace Executives was the root cause of this sad story.
