Remember, Francona was going through a divorce last baseball season and some were critical of his "commitment" to baseball last season.

Kid Has His Amputated Leg Reattached Backwards!

 13 year old Duggan Smith had cancer in his thigh when he was 10.  The doctor amputated his leg and put it back on backwards so the kid could continue to play baseball.  This is how the procedure called rotationplasty is described.

The diseased portion of the leg is removed, and then the lower portion (containing the lower shin, ankle, and foot) is turned 180 degrees and grafted back onto the upper thigh. The ankle functions as a knee, the foot becomes the upper shin, and a prosthetic leg then fills out the lower portion.

Frank Beckmann and Mitch Albom Yelling At Each Other on WJR

I was alerted this morning by a Detroit e-mailer that Frank Beckmann and Mitch Albom were going at each other this morning on WJR over film subsidies in Michigan.

This was very reminicent of my own battle with Mitch back in the WKRK days, which you can hear here. In true Mitch form he tried to filibuster and run but to Beckmann's credit he wasn't having any of it.  He forced Mitch to stick around and have a great give and take over Mitch's lack of transparency regarding his own advocacy of the Michigan film take credit.  Frank did a great job of making sure Mitch was accountable.

The bottom line, Mitch has a credibility issue, nobody believes a word he says because of his fake column about Michigan State a few years ago.  That is exactly why Mitch should have been fired from the Free Press, he lacks serious credibility.  The irony is unbelievable as Mitch attempts to create credibility.  Why wasn't he this throughout when he was fabricating a column about Michigan State basketball.  Bottom line, Mitch is forced into this position because of his past lack of honesty.

The Big Chill at The Big House

Today at 3 p.m. est the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans will get in on in Michigan Stadium.  There will be 109,901 people in the stands just like any other Saturday, but this time the two teams will be playing hockey!

This game will will completely wreck the old attendance record for hockey as nearly 35,000 more people will be in the building than attended the "Cold War" at Spartan Stadium in October of 2001.

This is a link to the web cam at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, it is really cool to see the place empty.  The game will air live today at 3 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.

High School Girls Streak Football Game.

Two California high school girls were arrested last Friday Night after they decided to streak the halftime show of their high school's football game.  There is video but is it NSFW because the two teenage jackpole's who shot this video were cussing like drunken sailors.  Still really funny though.

 

My young friend has cancer...can you help?

I have a little friend here in Dallas who needs your love.  His name is Ethan Hallmark and he has cancer.  We hooked him up to meet the Texas Rangers last month but what he really needs is your positive energy.

I hung out with Ethan and his family and this is a class A dude, please check out his Caringbridge page and send him some good thoughts as he fights this horrid disease.  The same disease who took my mother and father.  I know times are tough but if you could make a donation, it would go a long way to ease the burden on his family as they battle to keep him healthy.  Donations are great but not what he is looking for, he wants to live.

Even if you can't donate to his cause, a message of love would be great!  Here is Ethan's story, he is 9 and loves baseball.

When I think of Ethan I think of my own kids and I hope you do too.  We are so lucky that our little men are healthy as horses that we forget everybody isn't so lucky.

Keep Ethan and other sick little ones in your heart!  They are battling everyday for their lives and as parents we can only marvel at their strength and love.  Drop Ethan a line and let him know you got his back!
